Field horsetail is a very popular herb that can be found almost all over the world. Among the wide range of applications, it is most often used in cosmetology, improving the health condition of hair and nails. However, it is often also the main ingredient of drugs used in the treatment of urinary tract diseases.

PROPERTIES AND APPLICATION

Modern phytotherapy, as a result of research and analyzes confirms the healing properties of horsetail and its high effectiveness. The French classification of herbs of the highest strength puts horsetail in first place among twenty plants endowed with extraordinary properties.

Diseases of the urinary tract

The horsetail herb increases the volume of urine excreted, and with it the amount of chloride, but quite irregularly, depending on the individual sensitivity to active compounds and the degree of renal impairment. Flavonoids are responsible for the diuretic effect of the raw material, while silicon compounds reduce the amount of urine. Although the diuretic effect of the raw material may be uncertain, the amount of excreted chloride ions is greater than normal. Drinking horsetail is great for the urinary tract. Horsetail tea is used to relieve symptoms of lower urinary tract diseases. Horsetail infusion relieves pain by relaxing the urinary tract. It is also recommended as an aid in urolithiasis and gout.

Metabolic properties

These properties are related to the presence of silicon. This element occurs in plants (e.g. in knotweed herb, seaweed herb, couch grass rhizome) in the form of combinations of organosilicon polymers. Only some of the silicon compounds dissolve in water and are found in decoctions. For humans, silicon is of systemic importance, therefore water extracts containing this element affect the metabolism.

For beautiful hair

Many people have hair problems, and few of them know that when applied to the hair, horsetail herb can work wonders. The vitamins, minerals and, above all, the silica contained in this plant make the hair die more slowly and become stronger. Field horsetail has properties that slow down and reduce hair loss. Interestingly, it's not just drinking horsetail that produces these good effects. It is also worth preparing a special hair rinse based on horsetail. For this purpose, you can try to collect horsetail stalks yourself in the field or in the garden. Then we dry the stems and prepare an essential infusion, which will also be perfect as a rinse.

For strong nails

Problems with brittle nails are as common as with hair. And in this case, the horsetail is very helpful. It strengthens the nails and restores their natural, healthy look. A treatment lasting several weeks should bring very positive results. We start the whole process
from the preparation of a well-concentrated infusion of horsetail. Add two or three teaspoons of dried herbs to a glass of hot water, and then wait about 10 minutes for the horsetail herb to brew well.
After cooling down, soak the nails for about 20-25 minutes. After drying the hands, rub the lukewarm oil into the nails with the addition of lemon juice and put on cotton gloves.
It is best to do this before going to bed so that the compress remains on the nails throughout the night. After a few weeks, the nails will be full of shine.

For burns and broken vessels

Field boxes can be used in skin injuries, burns, and in skin inflammations in the form of compresses. In addition, it is used in some skin diseases caused by the accumulation of harmful metabolic products in the blood, including in psoriasis. Field horsetail can also be reached by people struggling with couperose skin. It will strengthen the blood vessels and reduce the risk of their breaking. Externally, decoctions are used for rinsing in inflammatory conditions of the mouth.

With heavy periods

Horsetail decoctions can be used as an auxiliary in the case of heavy menstruation. Modern phytotherapy also recommends their use in bleeding hemorrhoids, colon ulcers and gastric and duodenal ulcers, as well as nose and lung bleeding.

For sweating feet

If you suffer from excessive sweating of the feet, try horsetail. Thanks to it, excess sweat, instead of getting to the surface of the skin, will be excreted with the urine, so a side effect of the therapy may be more frequent visits to the toilet.
